Here are some of the technologies we have used in our development projects.
EGL Rich UI
In early 2008, CCB began training staff in EGL. With Jon Sayles as our coach we started developing in JSF. Very soon after the JSF training, we took EGL Rich UI classes and we realized the potential of this new technology for modernization of legacy application on the IBM i or new web application development in general. Whether your applications run on Websphere or Tomcat and accessing DB2 on IBM i, or any other target database, EGL has the ability to create rich user interface application that rival a desktop GUI.
Java
Today it is worth considering Java for most new development. This is true for several reasons. Java was designed to be Internet ready and network secure. The most flexible and robust IBM i-based web applications are built using Java Servlets and JavaServer Pages. Web Services created with Java can provide a secure entry point to your legacy applications. Often, Java provides a means to develop applications that would otherwise be very difficult or costly using traditional IBM i languages.
All flavors of RPG
Finding developers who understand all the code that exists in a legacy application can be a challenge. Fortunately, CCB has a knowledge base that spans the range from the oldest RPG applications to the newest RPG ILE programs. It makes good sense for a company to leverage its investment in a solid code base, but business requirements rarely remain static for long. CCB can help by maintaining or enhancing your RPG programs on the iSeries.
Microsoft Office Integration
Integration of Microsoft Office components with iSeries/IBM i can provide clients with a “best of both worlds” approach to office automation. CCB has developed a variety of custom MS Office integrated solutions for companies wishing to display and communicate business data using Excel.
WebSphere MQ
Connecting disparate systems, transferring data, and receiving XML messages. WebSphere MQ can connect your systems and get work done. Working with our business partner who specialize in WebSphere MQ, we’ve developed applications utilizing these features:
- Setup WebSphere MQ on AS/400′s, iSeries, i5, IBM i
- Wrap XML data in WebSphere MA message
- Establish WebSphere MQ Clusters with iSeries and non-iSeries boxes
- Guaranteed message delivery
- WebSphere MQ message audit trail
- Message routing between multiple iSeries/IBM i boxes
- Message priority
- Incorporate commitment control
